Wim Matheeuwese first started on euphonium and switched to bass trombone at the age of 14.
At 18, he starts at the Conservatoire Royal de Liège where he will later get his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. While earning his master’s degree, Wim already wins the audition for bass trombone with the Royal Music Band of the Air Force of Belgium. After 5 years with this orchestra, Wim wins the audition for bass trombone with the Belgian National Orchestra in 2024.
Likewise, Win won the Trossingen Brass Symposium competition in 2017 and also the most prestigious competition for bass trombone, the Jeju International Brass Competition in 2024.
